Selamat Pagi dan Selamat Muhibbah kepada semua yang hadir pada pagi ini. Saya ingin mengambil kesempatan ini untuk mengucap terima kasih kepada semua hadirin kerana meluangkan masa bersama untuk meraikan upacara Majlis ‘Mesra Rakyat’ Jawatankuasa Penduduk (JKP) Zone 9 bersamping Majlis Pembukaan Rasmi Balai Masyarakat MPSJ and juga membuat kenal kenalan para Ahli-ahli JKPs yang menghadiri ini.

Saya mengalu-alukan kehadiran YB Gobind Singh Deo (Ahli Parlimen Puchong), YBhg Tan Sri Robert Phang (kawan rapat saya daripada Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation) dan Yang Berusaha Tuan Mohd Yusoff (Timbalan Yg DiPertua MPSJ) Upacara hari ini juga dihadiri olih kawan perjuangan dari Persatuan saya ia-itu Persatuan Kebangsaan Pembeli Rumah (National House Buyers Assoc) – yang di-anggotai oleh Naib Presiden Y Bhg Brig Gen ® Datuk Goh Seng Toh, Ms Suzie Low, Tan Cheng Siong dan Tuan Hj Said Ali. Juga turut hadir bersama kita adalah Ahli-ahli majlis MPSJ:

Saya ingin mengambil kesempatan ini untuk memperkenalan para Ahli-ahli JKP Zone kita ia-itu:

Pembantu saya Cik Rossalina Roslan ada bersama kita; she is a staff under the payroll of MPSJ and will be manning (akan menjaga) Balai Raya ini di-Jalan Sri Puchong 7.

As the country enters a new era of democracy, all of us are beginning to realize the importance and awareness of our rights and obligations as rakyat of Malaysia. This is especially true for us as Councillors to discern information to all our fellow rakyat and to serve the public. I must declare that I am not a politician, though I am politically conscious, and am invited to serve as a Town Councillor for MPSJ in my capacity of the Hon. Sec-Gen of an NGO Organisation namely: the National House Buyers Assoc- in short “HBA”- let me give you a short introduction. HBA is a non-profit, non government, non political, a national voluntary public interest organization registered in and under the laws of Malaysia. Our motto is “Strive for buyer rights and interest”. All HBA central executive council, are unpaid volunteers donating their professional time, money and resources for the success of the organization. We are formed to help educate house buyers understand their rights according to the laws. Sejak Negara kita memasuki era demokrasi, rakyat kita telah sedar tentang hak mereka sebagai rakyat Malaysia. Sebagai ahli majlis sudah menjadi kenyataan untuk maklumkan dan berkhidmat kepada masyarakat. Untuk pengetahuan orang ramai, saya bukan ahli politik dan saya dijemput untuk menjadi ahli majlis MPSJ atas kedudukan saya sebagai Setiausaha Agung Persatuan Kebangsaan Pembeli Rumah- (HBA). Izin saya menerangkan tentang HBA. HBA adalah Organisasi bukan kerajaan dan bukan politik tetapi badan sukarela dan didaftar dibawah undang2 Malaysia. MOTTO kami adalah melindingi hak2 kepentingan pembeli rumah. Semua sukarelawan HBA tidak bergaji dan mereka korbankan masa, duit dan ilmu mereka untuk kejayaan Organisasi mereka. Selaras dengan objective kita mengajar pembeli rumah untuk memahami hak dan hala tuju. Anda bolih dapatkan maklumat melalui laman web: www.hba.org.my.

Call it by whatever name, Joint Management Body (JMB) (Badan Pengurusan), Management Corporation (MC), Residents Association (Persatuan Penduduk), JKPs, they are all basically a community association of property owners looking out for their best interest- ‘community interest and not self interest’.

Although these are voluntary positions, it has to be taken seriously because it involves people well being and that of their investments. Strong leadership is an essential component of every successful owners' corporation, community based organisation and in our context JKPs. Our Zone 9 ahli JKPs volunteers have this special combination of insight, skills, knowledge and inspiration. They have displayed the ability to inspire others and have strong enthusiasm- I hope Enthusiasm is contagious. With it, council members are motivated to keep volunteering. Without it, voluntary work becomes a burden.

Walaupun jawatan JKP ini adalah sukarelawan, kita memandang berat kerana ia membabitkan pelaburan dan kepentingan orang ramai.

We run our Zone 9- to be the eyes and ears of the rakyat, who resides within, and assist them and their well-being/ welfare, within our capability and limitation. If anything requires MPSJ to do, we have to voice it out for the good of our community- preferred in writing, so as to place on official record. However, complaints must be done in the right manner as well. To complain effectively, you have to document your complaints, go to the right people and pursue till actions are taken in a satisfactory manner.

Over time, we will notice that people can be categorized into three groups; 1. those who make things happen;
2. those who wait for things to happen; and
3. those who asked ‘what happened’?

Masyarakat dikategorikan dalam 3 kumpulan:
1. Orang yang melakukan perkara;
2. Orang yang menunggu perkara berlaku; dan
3. Orang yang bertanya ‘apa yang berlaku?.

I am convinced that we have a good team amongst us to make things happen by your mere presence and ‘Enthusiasm’. They even have sub-volunteers amongst them.

I like to take this opportunity to emphasis that I take a serious view of the importance of ‘honesty’ and ‘passionate/ heartfelt sincerity to want to serve society’ as a key tool to fight ignorance and prejudice. I also want to instill leadership amongst us based on good principles and values (both family and society ) and the role of JKPs to cultivate honest and caring community to become civil and responsible citizens.

Saya mengambil kesempatan untuk menerangkan bahawa saya memandang berat kepentingan ‘Kejujuran dan kesabaran’ untuk berbakti kepada masyarakat.
